10 Pakistani Celebrities who cleared their CSS Examination but quit this field for an alternate career:

1-Hamza Ali Abbasi


Hamza Ali Abbasi cleared the CSS exam and secured a position in the Police force. He soon quit this field for an acting career becoming the 2nd actor to clear his CSS.

2-Rahat Kazmi



Rahat Kazmi is a prominent name in the history of Pakistan showbiz, television in particular. Rahat joined the prestigious Pakistani Civil Services in 1968 as an Information Officer. In 1976 he resigned from his job and started his acting career becoming the 1st actor to clear this competitive exam.


3-Moeed Pirzada



Moeed Pirzada is a lead Anchor and Columnist Selected for the Central Superior Services, after a distinct position in CSS exams in 1989; and worked in different areas of public policy at increasing levels of responsibility. He worked with Central Superior Services (CSS) and was awarded for meritorious services by the Federal government in 1998.

4-Raza Rumi



Raza Ahmad Rumi is a Pakistani columnist. He cleared the CSS examination in 1994. He was Assistant Commissioner, sub divisional magistrate of Murree. In 2000, he was selected by the United Nations Mission in Kosovo as a Civil Affairs Officer and for other municipal administration assignments. In 2002, he joined the Asian Development Bank as a Governance Specialist.

5-Adnan Randhawa



Adnan Randhawa, is a Pakistani politician. Randhawa secured 12th position all over Pakistan. He opted for Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2006 and during his stay in bureaucracy

6-Aitzaz Ahsan



Aitzaz Ahsan is a politician. He joined PPPand began his political career in 1970s. Aitzaz Ahsan appeared for and stood first in Pakistan’s prestigious CSS examination. However, he refused to join government service during the time of General Ayub Khan’s military rule. This act of youthful defiance made him the first, and perhaps only, individual to top the CSS exam yet decline government service.

7-Shafqat Mahmood



Shafqat Mahmood is a Pakistani Politician. He joined the Civil Service of Pakistan (District Management Group) in 1973 and served for about seventeen years until he resigned in 1990 to join politics.

8-Anwar Saifullah



Anwar Saifullah Khan is a Pakistani politician and industrialist. He oined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1970. He resigned from the Civil Service in 1984 to join the Saif Group.

9-Ayesha Siddiqa



Ayesha Siddiqa is a Pakistani civilian military scientist, geo-strategist, author, former bureaucrat and political commentator. She regularly writes critical columns for reputable newspapers. Siddiqa has been a civil servant for 11 years during which she was asked to work as the Director of Naval Research with Pakistan Navy making her the first civilian and a woman to work at that position in Pakistan’s defense establishment. She also worked as a Deputy Director in audit Defence Services Lahore Cantt.

10-Maryam Gillani



Maryam is a young officer who joined the Pakistan Railways Service through the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination only a few years ago. She is upright and courageous and upholds merit in public service. Looking after the personnel branch at Pakistan Railways’ Rawalpindi Division, Maryam refused to issue letters of appointment to candidates on the list reportedly sent by the Minister for Railways. Maryam was placed under suspension as a result of her refusal. She is currently a Writer and Analyst.
